DISCERNMENT LAB

A giving and support program for widows has long been a dream of mine, and God calls loving widows pure religion in His sight (James 1:27). We want to support widows who are devastated by the loss of their husbands in any way we can.

for Widows

a heart for widows. an unfinished vision.

About 3-4 years ago, I started to feel deep grief for widows. It felt like it came out of nowhere, but you and I both know that isn't the case. I believe the Lord gives us burdens, so we will fulfill the call He has for our lives. Shortly after this happened, Market America founder JR Ridinger passed away. Having written for his wife Loren's blog years ago, I was at least familiar with their business and brand. I was so grieved for Loren. Next was Erika Kirk. Then Bridget Bauchum (widow of Voddie Bauchum). I cried over every one of these deaths and with these widows.

Then, in 2025 in my own family when my Mother's cousin lost her husband. And again in my family in 2026, when my grandmother's husband was tired of suffering and passed away.

I can't pretend to know what this part of the ministry looks like right now. I'm following the Lord's leading. But I have a heart for widows. For now, please use the contact form on our site to get in touch with us about a widow you might know who has a very real need. Paul told Timothy in 1 Timothy 5:3 to "honor widows who are truly widows", so we want to be prudent with who we help and be responsible with any resources to do so.

When you write in, we will assess the need, reach out to the right people, and see how we might be able to help. If Discernment Lab isn't positioned to best help, we have a list of vetted resources who hopefully can. Thank you for being a part of an important group to God's heart who is often forgotten.
